Where I landed…
While I am confident a degree in fine art would absolutely be a good investment, I am thankful my path lead me in the direction that it did. I LOVE where I landed.
When I was 17 years old and was ready to head to college, I wanted to be an artist. I had focused on art in high school, going so far as to drive over an hour into Philadelphia every Saturday to Moore College of Art and Design for their high school program.
My dad is a practical man and wasn't sure a fine art degree would be a good investment. He offered to pay for Penn State as long as I chose a good investment. After many hours of debate and discussion, we landed on Art Education. I was not 100% convinced and secretly thought I could just change my major after I started. What I came to realize after a couple of years, was that this was the right path for me.
I got a job right out of college with BS in ArtEd from PSU. I worked for seven years in Central Bucks School District as an elementary art teacher before I resigned to care for my own children.
Now, I get to teach adults at Lisa Naples Clay Studio and workshops around the region. I love sharing all the joy that creativity can offer. I LOVE seeing the light go off when someone learns something for the first time.
