Come witness the MAGIC!
Thinking back on my life so far, I realize the main quality that has driven me is determination. You may be thinking, how on earth does this relate to FUN? Let me explain.
I remember at 5 years old, being determined to learn from other people’s mistakes, because I didn’t like the consequences I saw from other people’s choices. In middle school, I was determined to have my peers like me (middle school, remember!) And I did it-sort of. In high school, I was determined to get good grades and build a resume to get into college. I did it. In college, I was determined to finish a 5-year program in 4 years. I did it. And after college, I got right to work to save for a house, find a partner and have children…I did those things, too. This is not to say there weren’t quite a few detours and hurdles along the way, and sometimes, those goals didn’t feel like I expected them to feel, but still, I did it.
As determined as I have been to steadfastly accomplish the goal, I have always, ALWAYS had my art. I would go inside my head to a place where I could imagine, engineer, and create wonderful things. This was a place of peace and magic, where rules did not apply. It became my playground. This was a place that was JUST FOR FUN!
Now, I see that this crazy, wonderful world is so important. I’ve made art my way to share this beautiful chaos with everyone else. One incredible thing that has happened since I have been brave enough to share, is that I have met others who have the same passion!
ENTER: Jeanine Pennell of Bonetown Studios
I knew of and LOVED Jeanine’s work before taking a workshop from her. After that, we became fast friends, bouncing ideas off of one another and openly sharing the successes and failures of the business. So, when The “A” space became available from New Hope Arts, I knew that we needed to jump.
Together, we could create a space where people could get a glimpse inside the playground of our minds, JUST for FUN!
